Well, the Stanhope Government has passed yet another pointless bill, which requires them to waste more of your taxpayer dollars on stupid initiatives.
What do I refer to? Another hippy labour "save the trees" initiative: The Tree Protection Act (media release).
Basically, the act requires Environment ACT to establish an "Exceptional Tree Register". Trees protected by this register are subject to the approval of a government-appointed panel, of course. More beurocratic b.s.
I say, cut the tree down (or even move it!) if it's in the way of a property development or infrastructure (like roads). New trees can always be planted elsewhere.
This "Exceptional Tree Register" will only create undue burden on the poor folks at Environment ACT, and will create pointless obstacles for property developers, and even other government agencies.
