You've all heard me have a whinge about Netspeed before. Some of you have even seen the letter(s) of complaint I've sent them... Yes, boys and girls, as you guessed by the topic, it's time for another Netspeed Rant!!!
As many of you know, I was in Brisbane from the 29th of June to the 6th of July. There's plenty of photos here. Well, on the 1st of July, Netspeed turned off my Satellite service. Good job guys -- just when I'm out of town. So, of course, I called Netspeed. The pimply faced kid I talked to claims Netspeed's changed their upstream provider, etc etc etc, and as a result, my dish needs to be realigned to point at the new satellite they're using. Sidenote- Okay, I don't actually know if he was a pimply faced kid, but hey, I'm allowed to have a biased view.
Sure, they emailed me three months ago informing me that they would be doing this. In that email, no specific date was mentioned. They did however mention that I should contact David Fisher should I have any queries. Since receiving that email, I've sent two emails to David asking for specific dates, and for more details about this "special software" that would be required in order for the new service to work. Yep, you guessed it -- No response. So I was well within my right to be surprised that my service was not functioning when I returned from Brisbane.
Netspeed did not communicate the date that they intended to alter my service, nor has a technician come out to realign my dish to point to the correct satellite yet. It's the 14th of July now -- 14 days since my service stopped working. Every time I call Netspeed, they tell me they'll be in contact with me "soon".
This is, not to mention the fact that my service will not be in any way similar to the old service I had signed up for. No more static IP. No more reverse DNS. Oh, I guess they also forgot to mention that everything except HTTP (which has to go via some shitty Tellique proxying software) comes down via the dialup line. Yep that's right, I'm basically bound to dialup speeds. That's gotta kill BitTorrent...
