Sympton: DivX 5.2 movies show green video after playing for a couple of seconds
Problem: DivX 5.2 has problems with some hardware MPEG decoders.
Solution:
1. Uninstall *all* DivX's you have installed. In your start menu, if you haven't deleted it, click Uninstall in the DivX menus. There may be a couple (e.g. 5.0.2 and 4.0).
2. Uninstall any XviD codecs you've installed. (You'll be able to watch XviD encoded movies, see below).
3. Uninstall the Nimo codec pack. This seems to be the major cause of problems with playback of DivX movies.
4. Download the 3ivX codec from http://www.3ivx.com/download/index.html. 3ivX plays DivX 3, 4, and 5 movies, as well as XviD! It's fantastic. It also plays them back with far better quality. Basically, you can't lose.
5. You may not have sound now im some of your movies. It's fixable. 3ivX doesn't come with as many audio codecs as DivX does; i.e. an AC3 decoder. Get one from here: http://sourceforge.net/projects/ac3filter/ (click Download, and download an exe version).
